A bright kitchen and eight-seat dining room in Józefów: white cabinets, light oak veneer and LED worktop lighting for a north-facing room.
The brief
The kitchen in a new-build house in Józefów faces north, so it gets little direct sunlight for most of the day. The owners wanted an eight-seat table in the same room, for family gatherings, and worried that with a north-facing layout the space would feel dark and cramped despite its generous floor area.
Our approach
We kept the fronts and worktop light throughout: matt white cabinets, a light oak veneer on the island separating the cooking zone from the dining area, and a quartz composite worktop in a sand tone that won't yellow under artificial light. We swapped a good part of the wall cabinets for open shelving, so the wall doesn't feel heavy, and ran an LED strip underneath to light the worktop regardless of the weather outside. The eight-seat table sits on the same axis as the island, finished in the same veneer, so the kitchen and dining area read as one room rather than two pieces of furniture pushed together. From design to the final adjustment of the cabinets took ten weeks.

A velvety, non-reflective front sprayed onto MDF, in any colour from the RAL or NCS charts.

A layer of real wood, usually thinner than a millimetre, laid on a stable board that doesn't move like solid timber.

Quartz aggregate bound with resin, with a predictable pattern and a surface that resists stains.

LED strips in aluminium profiles under wall units, in shelves and inside wardrobes, planned along with the furniture.
