A Piaseczno kitchen after 20 years: a new dishwasher that fits large pots, soft-close full-extension drawers, and a sintered stone worktop.
The brief
The kitchen in this Piaseczno house was 20 years old: the drawers had to be lifted just to get them to close, the worktop was scratched, and the dishwasher fit barely half the pots the owner actually uses. She cooks a lot, for a large family, so what mattered most was function over looks: a bigger dishwasher, drawers that actually worked, and a worktop that could take a hot pan straight off the hob.
Our approach
We stripped the old units back to bare walls and redesigned the kitchen from scratch, with a full-width, 60-centimetre dishwasher that takes her largest pots standing upright in the lower basket. The drawers now run on full-extension, soft-close slides, so they close on their own, even under a heavy load, with no lifting needed. The worktop is sintered stone, which copes with heat and scratching, and the fronts are finished in a deep green matt lacquer, replacing the old, pale melamine panels. We also moved the socket above the worktop about 15 centimetres, so the kettle sitting there permanently doesn't block it. From stripping out the old kitchen to handover of the new one took seven weeks.

Worktops
Minerals pressed and fired at very high temperature, with no resin, so hot pans and sunlight don't harm it.
Interiors, fittings and handles
The drawer runs out to its full depth, and a damper closes the last few centimetres without a bang.
Fronts
A velvety, non-reflective front sprayed onto MDF, in any colour from the RAL or NCS charts.
The old kitchen was 20 years old, with drawers you had to lift just to get them to close. The new one looks completely different, but what mattered more to us was that the dishwasher finally fits our big pots, and it does.
